Omega 30 Testimonial
On 5/14/2002 Dancing Bear owner Dave Sliom emailed us:
I wanted to drop you a note to keep you updated on the performance of my Omega
30s, Dancing Bear, on the Chesapeake Bay. As you know we had to replace
the mast this year, and consequently had our 2 year old Haarstick Triradial
Pentex Mainsail recut. The recut was excellent, and the sail sets like
new. In our first two PHRF races, we have been first and second in very
light conditions which are not the best conditions for an Omega 30. The
addition of the running backstays has improved the way our Number 1 looks, we
are able to take out a lot more of the headstay sag we could not with the old
rig, and this makes a huge difference with the 1.
Also for your information, we did win Annapolis Race Week last year in
September. This is the biggest PHRF event on the Chesapeake Bay, with over
240 entries. Our class had 27 entrants, and we were able to finish first.
Our inventory was as follows:
Haarstick Pentex Triradial Mainsail
Haarstick Pentex Triradial 155% AP Number 1
Haarstick Grand Prix Kevlar 135% Number 2
Haarstick 0.6oz. Air-X Triradial Runner
Haarstick 0.5oz. Light Triradial Reacher
We won't talk about the Number 3 as it is not a Haarstick and we didn't even use
it in Race week <grin>. The 1/2 oz reacher has been a Godsend
in several races last year and both races this year. I am thoroughly
impressed with our entire Haarstick inventory, and very satisfied too. One
day I will replace that Number 3 and then we will have an all Haarstick
inventory, finally. Well anyway, bottom line, I love my Haarstick sails,
so keep up the good work making them so well.
Cheers,
David L. Sliom
