To be completely honest, I can only recommend Haarstick sails. Have been using them on *PEGASUS* for over thirty years, and they are great. Have tried other brands, but have always come back. Got a new Haarstick Dacron main and Pentex 162% genoa last year, and was able to sail her to a PHRF average of 131 sec/mile!!!!! Not too bad, considering that she has a rating of 186 on Lake Ontario. Made winning everything pretty easy. Even if you don't race, they make great cruising sails, craftsmanship is excellent. They are sailmakers that know their art, not seamstresses selling sails like many of the discount "lofts"...My new chute (Haarstick Maxi-Runner) "The Whomper"--love those square shoulders---it's like a frigging linebacker running down the field. Have always had Haarstick chutes, and always made money down wind. For awhile I had some budgetary constraints and went with non-Haarstick headsails for a few years. Passed the fleet downwind, but lost it all upwind---till I got the new Pentex (genoa).
