ENSIGN CLASS SAILS

2005 & 2006 National Champions

 Brian Simkins, Sailing Ensane #1742, Wins in 2006

Congrats to Brain and his crew, consisting of Tim Wilkes, Erica Banks, and Rob Windsor. They had 5 first place finishes in 10 races.  Greg Eiffert sailed a consistent regatta having the lowest throwout and one 1st place finish, giving him a 3rd overall. Another congratulations goes out to David Goss for his first Win in a National Regatta.  This also means that Haarstick Powered boats won 7 of the 10 races.

REGATTA REPORTS

2004 Midwinter Championship: White Lady of Irondequoit (USA 856)

 Finishes =  3-1-1-1-2-4-2-1-1-1

    Jon Faudree drives Team 856 to a commanding win at the 2004 Midwinter's. The weather and wind was perfect, and the two year old Haarstick sails performed beautifully.  To view the full regatta report and results follow the links:

2003 Fleet 23 Championship: White Lady of Irondequoit (USA 856)

    Gunnar Richardson leads Henry Rohrer's Team 856 to first place. With 17 races needed to qualify, the 18 1st place finishes were more than enough to take the championship for the Ensign class at CYC.   We had many different crew members on "The Lady" this year. We had new crew learning the ropes for future excursions to far away places.  We had old crew that came to visit and teach the new guys a few tricks. Overall we had a great time racing on Canandaigua Lake.

    The class at CYC is shrinking a little, and it is to bad because I look forward to racing on Canandaigua Lake more than I do anywhere else. It is a beautiful lake, with a beautiful club and many great people. I can't wait for next year.   www.sailcyc.com

2003 Fleet 7 Championship :    Ensane (USA 1742) wins again.

        Brian Simkins takes the gold at the Centerport/Northport area on Long Island. Brian and Mark Swanson make up one of the best Ensign racing teams in the country. The two skippers that took 2nd and 4th at last years nationals have teamed up on Ensane,  in Fleet 7. I would be intimidated to sail against these two guys. Fast sails and fast crews. Keep up the good work guys. Congratulations.  www.centerport-yc.org/Sailboat%20Racing.htm

2002 Fleet 7 Championship :      Ensane (USA 1742) wins the Tri-Cities Fleet 7 Championship.  Congratulations to Brian Simkins and his beautiful yellow Ensign.  Brian's racing record in Fleet 7 has been an amazing story for his first year racing his own boat.  Brian's follows the 2002 Haarstick Ensign Tuning Guide.  Brian's boat won the coveted "Most Beautiful Ensign" at this years National's in NJ, as well as placing 6th in the very competitive 43 boat fleet.

2002 Nationals in Barnetgat Bay, NJ:     Haarstick Customers take 2nd 4th, & 6th at the 2002 Ensign National Championships, co-hosted by the Island Heights and Seaside Park Yacht Clubs.  Congratulations to Mark Swanson (#417) taking 2nd with his 2002 Haarstick's - Main, #1 Genoa, & Spinnaker.  Mark was in the running for the title all week long with the exception of 1 break down in race #5 where he had to retire (his throwout).  Mark won 1 race and had 3 other top 5 finishes in the 43 boat fleet.  The White Lady of Irondequoit (#856) was 4th with 3 top 5 finishes and 1 first place.  Brian Simkin's Ensane (#1742) was 6th losing 5th by 1 point, with 3 Top 5 finishes.  Quite a showing for the only three boats with Haarstick inventories.  Our 2002 Tuning Guide is right on and making every Haarstick powered boat go very fast.  Give us a call today to find out what we can do for your Ensign program.

2002 Region 5 Championships:      The White Lady of Irondequoit ran away with the 2002 Great Lakes Championship this weekend in the light and variable winds of Canandaigua Lake Aug 3 & 4, 2002.  With 3 Bullets, Henry Williams II lead the field by 5 points, giving White Lady its second Region 5 Championship in the last 3 years.  We had point and speed on the fleet, powered by an full Haarstick sail inventory.  Next stop for 856 is Nationals at Barnegat Bay, NJ Aug 12-15th, 2002.  Congratulations to Rick Howitt finishing 4th, losing third in a tiebreaker.  Rick uses a full Haarstick Inventory as well.

2002 Fleet 7 Spring Series :      Ensane (USA 1742) wins the Fleet 7 Spring Series.  Brian Simkins is now outfitted in Haarstick Ensign sails and he is winning regularly in the very competitive Huntington/Northport/Centerport Fleet 7, last years National's host area.  Look for Brian to be very fast at Nationals this summer in Barnegat Bay, NJ.

2002 Memorial Day Regatta :      Spread out over 2 weekends, Ensane wins the Memorial Day Regatta with a 2-1-2-2.  Brian is quickly becoming the boat to beat on Long Island (Ensign Fleet #7).

2002 Fourth Of July Race :  Henry Williams makes an unbelievable comeback from 2nd to last over the starting line to winning the 2 lap race by 11 minutes.  The White Lady 's Haarstick sails were clearly faster in the light and variable winds.

2002 Mid-Winters :  The White Lady (USA 856) finished 2nd at this years regatta at the Dunedin Boat Club, Florida.  That makes top 3 finishes at the Mid-Winters for the 4th year in a row!!!  Now that is consistency, including 2 Bullets and 6 races in the top 3 out of 9 total races in the 16 boat fleet.  The team is very excited at their speed and point against everyone, and our Maxi-Runner Spinnaker makes them the fastest boat downwind.
